Evolutionary Astrology
Evolutionary Astrology (EA) is a new form of astrology that seeks to explain the karmic path of the soul.
This is done primarily through the description and the placement of Pluto. Pluto represents the soul. The teachings say the Source of all things manifested and unmanifested is energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed.
It is said to be immutable. The EA teaching uses the ocean and the wave analogy to describe the relationship between Source and the soul, which says that the Source is represented by the ocean, and the wave is the soul that manifests out of Source due to a specific desire. Pluto represents the wave. It is a conscious immutable energy that is driven by desire.
The nature of Pluto's desire is two-fold: one, to explore a specific desire outside itself, and two, to return back to Source. In a natal chart, the Pluto placement represents the unconscious emotional attachment to what has come before. These unconscious attachments have become limitations to the soul's evolution.
The Moon in EA represents the ego, or the conscious self. The conscious self is created through repeated experiences in the Saturnian world (reality). The repeated experiences become what is known, and therefore represents the sense of inner security. The ego doesn't like change. New experiences are often accompanied by an inner sense of anxiety or fear. This is because new experiences are unknown. What is known is secure. What is unknown is insecure.
The Moon, earths only satellite, has a light and a dark side. The light side represents the conscious self, while the dark side represents the subconscious self. The subconscious self is contact with the consciousness of Pluto.
The nodes of the Moon represent the past emotional security patterns, and the future emotional security patterns, and together they represent the the arc of emotional growth that accompanies Pluto's growth plan. All these entities are known in EA as the Karmic Axis. The Karmic Axis describes the reasons for the soul's incarnation, the direction of evolution and the arc of emotional growth.
